Letter to the Members: Hey, Oklahoma FFA! My name is Kylee Falasco, and I am beyond humbled and excited to serve as your 2023-2024 Southwest Area vice president.

I was born in Weatherford, Texas; then the Lord brought my family to Weatherford, Oklahoma, when I was 5 years old. Since then, my dad has grown his airplane business, and my mom became the agricultural education instructor at Weatherford High School.

Before I got my first show pig project, my mom was a stay-at-home mom to my three siblings and me. I had no idea what FFA was, and I had no knowledge of agriculture. Once I got my first project, Mr. Major (the ag teacher at the time and one of my biggest supporters) needed an ag secretary. My mom loved the students and the atmosphere so much, she decided she didn’t have anything to lose.

I continued to show competitively, and soon realized I wanted to be just like the older students who were actively involved in FFA. I joined in 8eighth grade and have been hooked ever since.

Throughout my FFA career, I have competed in just about everything I have had the opportunity to do: Greenhand Quiz, opening and closing ceremonies, prepared and extemporaneous public speaking, proficiency awards, vet science CDE, livestock evaluation CDE and, my personal favorite, the agricultural communications CDE. I have also enjoyed developing my SAE programs, through which I work in my family feed store, Falasco Feeds, and own and operate my swine production program.

Outside of FFA, I was involved in many clubs/organizations at WHS. I spent my spare time serving in Student Council, Leadership Labs, WHS Fan in the Stands, Media Production, Showstoppers, Early Bird Reading and FCA. My favorite part of high school was being involved in anything and everything.

Although the camps, conferences and conventions have been nothing short of incredible, my favorite part of my time in the FFA has been the connections and lifelong friendships I have made. This organization gave me my very best friends, my college roommates, the best support system and my biggest role models.

This upcoming year, I will attend Oklahoma State University to double major in agricultural education and agriculture communications, with the ultimate goal of becoming an ag teacher. I am so excited to spend this year serving and making awesome memories with members across the state.
