Letter to the Members:
Hi, everyone! My name is Trey Myers, and I am so extremely grateful to be serving as your 2023-2024 Central Area vice president, I can’t wait to see each one of you this year, I am beyond blessed to call the town of Perkins, Oklahoma, my home. I am the second of three boys, and just like the stereotypes say, I am the peacekeeper of the house.

Growing up extremely close to Stillwater allowed me to attend almost every Oklahoma State University sporting event my parents would let me go to. From football to baseball or even wrestling -- you name it, I was more than likely in the stands. It is safe to say I fell in love with sports; I loved the lessons learned and the hard work it took to be successful.

This passion for hard work was soon rekindled in eighth grade when I zipped up my first ever FFA jacket. I quickly became involved with everything I could possibly compete in. I began my Supervised Agricultural Experience in eighth grade. I purchased my first market wether and began exhibiting livestock.

My passion for exhibiting show goats led to an interest in a Supervised Agricultural Experience of meat goat production. I developed a small herd of Spanish goat kids, feeding them out and then selling them at our local Perkins sale barn. Through this, I learned the ins and outs of managing a successful operation and building connections with agricultural professionals. My all-time favorite memory took place after the State FFA Interscholastic speech contest in 2022. I placed second in the agricultural business category. During the drive home, my ag teacher and I blared the song “Pocketful of Sunshine.” Today, even a year later, I can’t help but smile every time the song comes on. Hearing the catchy phrase, “I’ve got a pocket, a pocketful of sunshine,” vividly reminds me of every single great memory I made with my ag teacher, Mr. Wood, that year."
