Letter to the Members:
Hey, Oklahoma FFA! My name is Caleb Horne, and I am so honored and excited to be serving you as the 2023-2024 state president.

I attended pre-K through 12th grade in the small town of Morrison, where my mom is the elementary counselor and high school cheer coach. Although I attended school in Morrison, I lived in Stillwater, where my dad works as a finance director. With both my parents graduating from Oklahoma State and living in Stillwater, I was born and raised a Cowboys fan. Go Pokes! That being said, if I wasn't at school or church, you could probably find me on a baseball field or cheering on a team at an OSU sporting event in my younger years.

In junior high and high school, I took the opportunity to be involved with everything possible. I played practically every sport and served as the school mascot, and, in addition to FFA, I enjoyed being an active member or officer in numerous other student organizations such as academic bowl, Student Council, National History Day, science fair and youth group.

When I first joined FFA, it was because my friends were in the class. I didn't really become involved until the spring semester of my freshman year when I got hurt playing baseball and my teacher encouraged me to try out public speaking since my sports career was on hold. After that spring full of competitions and making friends, I knew this organization was where I belonged.

Later on in my FFA journey, I participated in many different CDE/LDEs. I’ve competed in livestock and dairy evaluation, milk quality and products, prepared and extemporaneous public speaking, opening and closing ceremonies, parliamentary procedure, agriscience fair and farm business management. I also enjoyed owning and operating my own lawn care and landscaping business and exhibiting swine as my SAE programs.

While the opportunity to participate in various competitions, conferences and conventions was pretty cool, I would have to say the people I have met have been my favorite aspect of FFA. Being active in FFA has helped me realize that more than winning, it's the memories you make, the people you meet and individuals you are able to influence along the way that really matter.

I am attending Oklahoma State University, pursuing a major in agricultural economics and religious studies. I can’t wait to spend the next year serving and making memories with you as we further our FFA journey together.
